Ditto…my ex worked at picture people and she hated it (the parents much moreso than the kids)…so I’ll be curious to hear what you think.

I have the D700 myself, and have used it for personal and professional use for about 9 months…it’s honestly a fantastic camera. Unless you need/want the extra protection that the D3 offers, I would stick to the D700 for its ability to be a little more covert (I’ve had it mistaken for a D300 often, and by those really not in the know, a D90). If you have the money, though, pick up a D3S…that’s one hell of a camera. If there’s any insight on things with the D700 that I can give you, please feel free to ask anything you want.

Why is the D2x even an option haha. You could probably get a lightly used D3 for the same price as a D700 I’d imagine. You of all people are the only person who can decide, if your going to be spending that kind of money you should know what you need in a camera. Low light, speed, reach, etc. Then choose accordingly.

I ended up working the cost of lighting into this job that I made a proposal for, though…if they end up accepting the proposal, I’ll have a 2 head, 1000w/s dynalite system sometime soon. If not, I’ll consider buying the flashpoints on my own dime. I’ll let ya know what happens!
