Okay, it’s a comeback!
July 10, 2010 in Announcements, Site Upgrades by Conor Keller
So we had this awesome strong start, and then suddenly a lot of us vanished like ninjas. What was up with that?! Well, I guess we all got stupid busy and forgot to finish upgrading and theming the site like we had initially promised. Yeah, we suck.
Nonetheless, here we are, back and ready to bring Shuttrr back to where it was in it’s prime, then take it even further. With the help of you guys of course. Because a community is no community without it’s contributing members. With that said, let’s talk about some new shit we have going on here in Shuttrr 2.0.
We have a new upgraded back end system, which is faster, more efficient, and is not tested on animals. It also gets around 40mpg.
A new invitation system, which allows you to invite a specific person by sending them an invitation link through email. No more hot panda codes needed!
We redesigned and rethemed the look of Shuttrr, so it feels all 2.0ish. We think it’s much cleaner this way, and easier on the eyes. We hope you all agree!
We also added a new points system, which can be used towards the purchase of awesome stuff we add to the store. You will get points for contributing points, creating groups, etc. You can thenĀ use the points you have to purchase stuff in the store like photography accessories, 40/60 swag, gift cards to other sites, etc.
Integration to Facebook and Twitter is something we are currently working on and plan on having running for you guys soon! We’re still working on a few kinks with those.
You can now directly @mention another member from any post on the site. Mentions will show up on a users home/profile page.
Your home page is now your profile page, so it’s more like Facebook in that aspect. You can filter the activity by your activity, your friends, and groups.
More themes have been added for your Shuttrr Blog! We will continue to add themes as we go, if you know of a WordPress theme you would like to see added, just tell us and we’ll do it!
Shuttrr will be constantly changing and improving as we go. We want to hear your feedback so we can improve the site based on what you want to see done. So don’t be shy, speak up, and tell us what you want to see done. Remember that this community is only as good as the members in it. Keep in mind you who invite, and make sure they are the right choice for our community. We wouldn’t want anyone to come in here and spoil all the fun.
Go forth, contribute, and invite! Comment if you notice any weird bugs! And also thank @ian for doing such an amazing job by keeping this site up and running like it should.
